Welcome to our forums. The Bristol Big'Uns are a group of people who enjoy fantasy, science fiction and historical wargames. We tend to play mostly table-top wargames but you will sometimes see CCGs, CMGs, RPGs or board games. If this sounds like a hobby you currently enjoy then why not come along. The club is based at Iron Acton, between Bristol and Yate, in the recently refurbished Parish Hall and is held Sunday evenings from 6 pm until 10 pm. There are tables and chairs available plus various sized scenic mats and terrain for table-top wargames. Please bring with you any drinks or snacks that you require.

Warhammer 40k - Tau 100 points looking for a game in July

Hello,

I used to play 10 years ago. Recently started again.
So far about 100 power points worth of Tau.
Looking for a game to try out new units and rules.
Available most July Sunday evenings.

Regards,

Will.

Hi Will,

I can’t do July but if you are around one Sunday in August I would be able to do 1,000 points of Genestealer Cults.

I'm up for that. got a large guard army and the timing gives me plenty of time to make a list and paint my new ones.

Re: Warhammer 40k - Tau 100 points looking for a game in July

Hiello, thanks for your replies.

@Dobin - Let me know what weekend in August suits you best. Bare in mind I haven't played with the real point system (only been working things out by power points), haven't used Command points or psychic phases yet either, so would rather like to keep it simple for the moment. Get the basics learnt.

@ Tim - Sure I am free July Sundays 7th 14th and 21st as far as I am aware.

Happy to randomly pick scenarios from the rule book too.

Re: Warhammer 40k - Tau 100 points looking for a game in July

Would you be available on 4th August.

I’m the first to admit I have only played a couple of games, but would definitely want to use the fuller rules. What about if we use 750 points and no psychers/psychic phases to give a bit of space work through command points, abilities, etc?

Tim - do you want to play next week on the 11th?

Re: Warhammer 40k - Tau 100 points looking for a game in July

Hi guys,
Sorry for my late replies I need to change the e-mail address my notifications go to.
@ Tim - Are you free this Sunday 14th for a game?
I know I've got 100 points ready to play.
@Dobin - I'd have to re-calculate my 100 points and work out if it is close to 750, but I am free 21st July if you want to play then.

No problem I can do 4th August, got started on the 750 point army list(s). Found a great app called Battle-scribe. Made three lists ready, one sensible two reckless. You've got the guard army right?

I haven't been to the club for a very long time, what time do you normal arrive/want to start?

Re: Warhammer 40k - Tau 100 points looking for a game in July

Will, if you are free, I'll offer my CSMs up Sunday 21st.

I'll try and devise 100 Power force.

Cheers

Seemingly my toys total 73 Power Points. Mind you I may be doing things wrong 😆

Hi,

Sounds good to me. I can do the 21st July.

I struggled to work out armies until I found this app called BattleScribe: https://battlescribe.net/?tab=news
Seems to have everything, you can set the limits and it will tell you if you are compliant with whatever detachment you select.

On attempt 100 power points is alot to push around in one game I'm happy to try 73 or round it to 50. Plus I wouldn't want to be using to many units I'm unfamiliar with it will take me longer to do my turns. I'll make a roster for both and we can decide on the day if you want.

I maybe going to Devizes that day so let me know when you want to meet at the club, it's been a while I don't know what the normal setup time is.

Cheers, Will.

Ok Will, let's use 50 power & kick off at 18:00.

I'm sure we will be quite slow going through the turns.
