Bristol Big'Uns
Welcome to our forums. The Bristol Big'Uns are a group of people who enjoy fantasy, science fiction and historical wargames. We tend to play mostly table-top wargames but you will sometimes see CCGs, CMGs, RPGs or board games. If this sounds like a hobby you currently enjoy then why not come along. The club is based at Iron Acton, between Bristol and Yate, in the recently refurbished Parish Hall and is held Sunday evenings from 6 pm until 10 pm. There are tables and chairs available plus various sized scenic mats and terrain for table-top wargames. Please bring with you any drinks or snacks that you require.

Rebels and patriots

Hi,

I received my Osprey Rules rebel’s & patriots yesterday. They look very good and seem ideal for AWI & French Indian wars not so much the ACW for me though.

What scale figures do people have for these two periods and which manufacturer. I like the look of galloping major figures, but perrys also look very good and might be a cheaper option. With Perry’s are they quite hard plastic so the rifles don’t bend about and shed paint? I’m tending to the 28mm scale but do like 15mm as well.

How many people have got these rules and figures to play this ruleset?

Mike has got his lovely card ones which we plan to use for larger scale AWI battles with over bunker hill rules, these could be used as well for these rules using dice for casualty markers.

Re: Rebels and patriots

I'm still torn between AWI & FIW in either 15 or 20mm.

Best I  can do atm, I'm afraid.

Cheers

Re: Rebels and patriots

I've decided to get on with this project now.

First AWI game with Mike is tomorrow, second game will be 7th April with Andy; FIW this time.

I'm repurposing my '45 rebellion British as AWI & FIW chaps. Naturally I'll need some extras 😊

Cheers

Re: Rebels and patriots

Unfortunately family issues necessitated us agreeing to rearrange our game.
So we will both by taking the field as green commanders on 7th!

Re: Rebels and patriots

Thanks John - very useful. I have made some reversible tokens for Disordered/Broken troops.
You are playing this is 15mm I assume?

My French and British for the FIW are mostly still in an undercoated state unfortunately.

Re: Rebels and patriots

I've prepared some tokens also Andy.

I think we will both be fielding predominantly "unfinished" 15mm forces, in truth.

Looking fwd to our tryout of the rules.

Cheers
