I have started a new post on this. Preparation has gone well with a good selection of 20mm models ready for "What A Tanker" in the desert participation game. We will need club members to be involved on the day so on 4th November there will be a run through of how we will operate the game on the day - please put this date in your diary - it will be a lot of fun. Tanks will be drawn out of a "hat" and believe me there is a lot of rubbish in there!

Post here to let me know if you are able to join in the run through on the 4th and / or help at Reveille on 25th. There is no club on 25th.

Alan

PS we will need some flyers to publicise the club at Reveille - can someone volunteer to take care that please?

Hi mate,
Should be free on the 4th and happy to help out at Reveille.
I’II have a dig around and see if I can find the fliers we had left from last year.
Are you at club Sunday?
Cheers,Steve.

I was at Lincombe Barn yesterday and Craig asked if we were putting on a game. I confirmed this; therefore there is no need to return the form now.

Just oiling the gears 😊

I despair of them.
I confirmed not only WaT but Rob's stand with Craig and got a reply from him confirming we had the slots [17th september]. And he stated he didn't require the booking form [even though i had one ready to send off. ]
I even posted on their yahoo group that we are doing WaT and rob was doing his Scarab stuff as well.
They need a new committee as senility seems to be their byword

I'm sure busy people get overwhelmed by events.

I think Event Organiser is in a transitional situation at Lincombe Barn.

Still all Duplex Drive tanks are in a line now.

Shouldn't that be all the 1942, utility all wheel drive, double powered rear axle vehicles in a row? or DUKW or duck hahahahahahaha.
Alan have you got enough room for a couple more WAT players on Sunday?

Great session on Sunday running through the game. 10 of us taking part with the British and Commonwealth coming out on top thanks to the mighty Sherman which was undefeated all evening.
Hopefully see you all again on the 25th.
Publicity - can someone tell me the address of the club website address (again - sorry Steve!) please?

Thanks

Alan

I no longer have a trade sand at the show as I have a tooth extraction with a surgeon Friday and the instructions say take it easy for a couple of days thereafter

I will try and pop into the show assuming I am up to it

Kind regards

Sorry to hear that Rob hopefully you will feel up to pushing a tank or two around the desert.

Please can someone put a note on the facebook page about Sunday's game at Reveille.

Thanks
Alan

Hi john,

We went down very well, with the very small attendees. There was not a lot of people at the show. Stuart of firestorm games said he just about made a small profit.

It would appear that the bath xmas market, & possibly the Swindon one which all were offering good deals for Xmas stuff, took many families. So the show lost out a tad to crass Xmas commercialisation. I don’t know if there was a similar thing on at mall. Not much you can do.

I’ve already spoken to Craig that we would like a slot for next year.

The flyers were a good idea as several people took them. So we might get results from that.

Kudos to Alan & Howard for the excellent preparation & work done to produce a fun what a tanker desert game.

An elderly chap who has kidney failure & is very tied to his house, came to the show with a carer on for his rare day out, & joined in the WaT game & afterwards said he had a wonderful time.

So a great day, with some retail therapy as well.

Thanks for the very interesting insight Nige.

I'm playing Craig Sunday,  so will get his take on the event as a whole.

I guess, in preparation for next year, we need to consider what learning points there may be and call for volunteers. If the club wants this, of course.

Cheers

It was an excellent lively game in the middle of the hall. Well done to everyone that put it on and thank you for taking me through the basics.

Cheers, Andy

Numbers were indeed down a bit, but most traders left happy.

Planning for 2019 is in hand.
