I was meeting Andy’s French Grand Armée with my Anglo-Austrian coalition using Absolute Emperor, Osprey’s latest in their ‘blue book’ series.
The rules enabled us to field 5 Corps between us, not something you hear often from Napoleonic players, even in 6mm! We had some tussles with the rules, but it is early days for us. It did provide a thoroughly absorbing and interesting game.

Also on were the western shootout Dead Man’s Hand, 3rd edition Kings of War and Stargrave, another offering from Osprey.

Another entertaining club night.

Cheers

Having skimmed the rulebook a little more I see that my light cavalry should not have received an extra D6 when charging. Apart from their lower cost I am not sure why I would pick them over line cavalry.

I think I should have made use of the evade rule to avoid my cavalry being charged so often.

Early days and it is good to learn a new set of rules.

John,

The game looked really good, and the impression i got was it was worth trying out. I have the rules but did expect to find a QRC at the back to aid reading [and playing the rules] but there wasn't. I couldn't find any support material on OSprey's website either. Is there a play sheet/QRC avaiable or is it make your own?

Nige, I think the support material can be found on the AE facebook page. I found creating my own QRS brought out most of the rules. I'm typing them up currently, along with completing more Austrian infantry.
I'm intending to share when done.

Cheers

So Nige, do you have any suitable toys so we could get a game in?

Cheers
