Bristol Big'Uns
Welcome to our forums. The Bristol Big'Uns are a group of people who enjoy fantasy, science fiction and historical wargames. We tend to play mostly table-top wargames but you will sometimes see CCGs, CMGs, RPGs or board games. If this sounds like a hobby you currently enjoy then why not come along. The club is based at Iron Acton, between Bristol and Yate, in the recently refurbished Parish Hall and is held Sunday evenings from 6 pm until 10 pm. There are tables and chairs available plus various sized scenic mats and terrain for table-top wargames. There is a 'tuck shop' happily providing crisps, chocolate and fizzy drinks plus tea and coffee at a reasonable price.

I think Meryl has agreed to up to 50 (heavy breathing) people in the main hall so there shouldn't be an issue.
However, Nigel’s request for a table has reminded me that although the Parish Hall management has said they will be opening their doors, our club management haven’t said we will be recommencing meetings.
Presumably we are all keen to roll dice in earnest once more, so who is hoping to play on 23rd?
Cheers.

If 40K is a game too far how about:

"XENOS RAMPANT: BY RICHARD COWEN & DANIEL MERSEY
We are delighted to announce that we’ve signed a contract with Osprey Publishing to produce the next book in the Rampant wargaming series: Xenos Rampant.
Xenos Rampant is a set of miniature wargaming rules for fighting science fiction battles for fun, free of adherence to specific model ranges, canonical settings or ever-expanding supplements. Armies are typically composed of around 30-50 models. Most players prefer to field 28mm models, although other scales are just as playable.
Xenos Rampant is a completely standalone set of rules, but retains the simplicity, feel, and ease of play of Lion Rampant. Richard originally built Xenos Rampant as an unofficial variant based on Daniel’s Origins-nominated system, and we have worked together to develop the idea. The basic rules should be familiar to players of Lion Rampant, although the very different nature of futuristic warfare has necessitated some changes to the rules.
Xenos Rampant will be published as a hardback book by Osprey Publishing in 2022."

Well somehow January is done and there’s little going on in the outside world, still we are all avoiding the plague, I hope.

Highlights of 2021 so far for me has been helping one of the grandchildren with their maths homework over Zoom. It’s traumatic, to say the least, all these new methods! I also managed my first wargame since lockdown 1, over Zoom with a mate. We used Fleet Commander; a gridded spaceship game (which is no longer in print) but the rules are online and I used pen and paper to represent the universe and my fleet. A great time had by all.

Rules: Fleet Commander: Genesis Rulebook - 1jour-1jeu.com (1j1ju.com)

Cheers for now.
