Bristol Big'Uns
Welcome to our forums. The Bristol Big'Uns are a group of people who enjoy fantasy, science fiction and historical wargames. We tend to play mostly table-top wargames but you will sometimes see CCGs, CMGs, RPGs or board games. If this sounds like a hobby you currently enjoy then why not come along. The club is based at Iron Acton, between Bristol and Yate, in the recently refurbished Parish Hall and is held Sunday evenings from 6 pm until 10 pm. There are tables and chairs available plus various sized scenic mats and terrain for table-top wargames. Please bring with you any drinks or snacks that you require.

Club Discussion » Doing a campaign » 10/3/2024 5:23 PM

To be honest not interested in the GW stuff, been there, done that, letโ€™s move on ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™‚.
Might be interested if it was something historical/ish, say Sharp Practice or Silver Bayonet ๐Ÿค” or possibly Moonstone or Burrows & Badgers.
I donโ€™t seem to have much time at the moment so will have to see what whatโ€™s .

Club Discussion » What epic warpath factions are we choosing? » 01/3/2024 5:52 PM

Iโ€™ll be getting the Plague as theyโ€™ve always been my favourite faction, I already have a large Deadzone collection of them ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘

Club Discussion » EPIC Warpath kickstarter » 18/2/2024 3:26 PM

Iโ€™ve backed at Sergeant level plus re-enforcements for the Plague of Course ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜ˆ.

Rob I think you can back at ยฃ1 and then just get the rules set, tokens and command dice as an upgrade if you want to use your other models ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ.
Remember though this is scaled at 10mm now 6mm ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘.

Club Discussion » New Year (2024) New Projects- what we looking at? » 15/1/2024 9:08 PM

So for me this year as always Iโ€™ll be playing and painting plenty of Kings of War, I now have 28 painted armies but still plenty of stuff to add to theses forces and already signed up for 10ish events.
Iโ€™d also like to dust off a few of my historical projects and get them finished and on the table, maybe even start something new ;).
And finally Iโ€™d like to continue playing Moonstone and Turnip 28 as Iโ€™ve really enjoyed getting into them last year.

Arranging Games » 23rd May Game » 12/5/2021 6:25 AM

Hi all,
As far as we know club will return on the 23rd of May and will run as it did last time we opened, no need to book tables as we should have plenty of room.
Subs wise I will check my records and contact anyone who needs to top up thereโ€™s.

Arranging Games » The return ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ™‚. » 22/3/2021 11:58 AM

Message received today.

Dear all

I hope you are all well and are ready to try to return to some sort of normality!

We are allowed to reopen for group meetings and exercise classes from May 17th but at 50% capacity.  That means we can have up 50 people in the main hall and up to 20 in the Committee room.  Social distancing, hand sanitising and the rule of six will still apply until June 21st.

I have continued to hold your previous slots in the Parish Hall diary but would like each of you to confirm that you are intending to resume your meetings and when this is likely to be.

I know things might still change but an indication of your continued use of the Hall would be very helpful.

Many thanks

Kind regards

Meryl

Arranging Games » NO Club until further notice. » 14/12/2020 11:45 PM

It doesnโ€™t seem like a year Kev but as you said it must be, you have been missed.
Hereโ€™s hoping 2021 is a better year for you dude, you Certainly deserve one.

Club Discussion » Merry Christmas and Happy New Projects for 2021 » 14/12/2020 11:28 PM

Plenty of projects to keep me busy next year I think .

Going to continue on with my 6mm projects, ACW to get to Gettysburg level, ECW finish Lansdown then move on to Roundway Down plus I want to try out a bit of Colonial gaming especially now I have loads of Zulus to paint.

On the 2mm Napoleonic front would like to get at least 4 small forces plus terrain to play the 2 by 2 rules then see if I can take it up to Blucher level.

28mm wise, finish my KOW Orcโ€™s, Nightstalker and Twilight Kin armies plus my backlog of Dreadball teams.

That seems a fair bit to keep me occupied and Iโ€™m sure there will be more stuff at least started .

Arranging Games » UPDATE: Hall reopening » 14/9/2020 10:36 PM

Here is the message weโ€™ve received from the hall provider.

Hello everyone

I thought I would update you following this weeks announcements from the Government regarding Covid 19 restrictions. The advice we have received is that because the Parish Hall is regarded as a Covid secure building, following the precautions we have in place, we are able to continue with our meetings.

Please make sure you adhere to all regulations so hopefully we can continue with our limited bookings.

Many thanks for your cooperation and continued support.

Kind regards

Meryl

Arranging Games » NO CLUB THIS SUNDAY 13th September 2020 » 11/9/2020 12:08 PM

I will no be attending club for the next 2 Sundayโ€™s as my Mrs is having to self isolate due to an outbreak at her school, she is fine and has no symptoms as am I and I am still working.
Even though I could attend I do not feel comfortable about doing so, so have made the decision to stay away.
After the issues we had last Sunday and with Dave also not able to attend we decided that we would not go ahead with this Sundayโ€™s meeting.

Cheers,Steve

Arranging Games » RE-OPENING Report » 20/7/2020 8:44 AM

Everything seemed to run smoothly, clean down went well and we were all out by 9.30pm.
Really great to see everyone in person and to roll them bones again ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜Ž.

Arranging Games » UPDATE: Hall reopening » 09/7/2020 7:10 PM

We will be able to use the terrain area but not the kitchen or bar.
Our terrain will be fine to use as we are only using it once a week and the C-19 virus can not live on these type of areas for more than 48hrs I think Dread said?

Arranging Games » Greetings Big 'Uns » 07/7/2020 10:25 AM

Hopefully but weโ€™re still waiting for clarification from the hall provider so we maybe pushed back a week ๐Ÿ™.

Arranging Games » COVID19 Discussions » 22/6/2020 11:43 AM

We need to think about how we are going to deal with money transactions on a club evening.
I think we will have to stop the tuck shop until further notice and ask people to bring their own snacks. As for sub we could ever ask people to bring the exact money and drop it into cash box  or maybe a cash transfer at the end of the month?
Thought gentlemen?

Club Discussion » Lockdown Projects? » 02/5/2020 9:42 PM
